WELL THEN I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THAT YOU
well, you asekd…
2019 PORTLAND, OR: An established music producer, audio engineer, beat maker, mixing & mastering engineer with over 15 years experience and about 5,000 recordings under his belt - Jacobthewilliam has been there/done that, but still manages to maintain a uniquely mysterious ability to stay "off the grid" and out of the limelight. Which, according to him, requires an immense amount of effort [No kidding]. With an already lengthy, well endowed music career going for him, in 2016 everything changed. After a series of life altering events in his personal life, Jacob made the decision to forfeit his career as a record producer, and quit music altogether. Literally, by cutting all ties within the industry while even getting rid of all his instruments and pawning his gear and giving away his recording equipment and anything else that reminded him of his “previous life” as he considers it.
But why? What for? This is the difficult thing for me to understand: Because, well, as a music journalist having interviewed hundreds of independent artists who all struggle to have a life dictated by their music - to see someone who has it all just one day up and leave it behind? Or to everyone who’s given everything they have toward working in a studio…As a career… To be producing acts like The Shins, Modest Mouse, Explorers Of The Dreamworld, Everclear, The Dandy Warhols - whoever - & Just to give up and throw it all away?

PLEASE READ:
Being a record label owner & musician myself, I often feel responsible for the well-being of my friends and musical acts. I would be lying if i said I wasn't troubled by the current (and future) situation at our hands. This is why I am turning to the fans for any inkling of a miracle. As you may or may not know - the music community in particular has been hit the hardest to the point of bankruptcy as a result of the current pandemic. All we can do is accept the hand we’ve been dealt and attempt to think outside the box as a way to hopefully generate income once again and pull through these hardships. So, we are here today asking you to lend a helping hand. Because musicians can no longer play live shows - they have lost the ability to sell their merchandise to fans in person at gigs. Here-in lies the tragedy: considering that live performances + merchandise often account to around 80% [or more] of a musicians income. This leaves us with no other choice but to try to sell our merchandise online with the hope earn back [any] portions of what’s already been lost. This is where you can help: Any items you can purchase from your favorite artist online will go a long way towards their survival, and well - their gratitude goes without saying. Furthermore, I’d just like to mention one more thing… and this is about the uncertain outlook of a bleak "new standard" way of living for artists in the future. It is certainly worrisome & unnerving to think about what might happen next in regards to their survival. To say I am concerned is an understatement. We all need to lend helping hand if we are fit to do so. We are not beggars. Our pride has not left us [not yet!] it’s merely the state of things and we all need to understand its okay to ask for help however uncomfortable it may be. Perseverance is what got us here today and we must not forget where we came from, where we are, and where we are going. Please just keep this in mind and remember that every little bit helps! Thank you so much.
LOVE & RESPECT,
Jacobthewilliam
